As I prepare for my Mindfulness for Fertility Workshop, I’m thinking about what little tidbits I can share with people that will make the biggest impact in the least amount of time.
Mindfulness is important because it helps us be present and studies have shown that mindfulness techniques help decrease anxiety and depression while also increasing fertility and is great to support things like IVF.
But, most women who are experiencing fertility challenges are so distracted by their emotions, what their doctors/parents/friends/strangers are telling them, and by all the stuff that they’re trying to do to enhance their fertility that the idea of adding in something like mindfulness or meditation feels incredibly stressful.
So let me share one of my favorite meditations. This is one that anyone can implement into their busy schedule. It’s a three-breath meditation. I’ll be giving more specifics in my workshop, but basically all you do is stop a few times per day and take three deep breaths, filling your lower belly all the way up to your chest and then slowly letting each breath go.
When we’re stressed, we often forget to really breathe. Being mindful about your breath, even for a short time, will get your energy moving and your oxygen flowing at the same time as releasing stress and anxiety. Who doesn’t want that!
